Addictions & Mental Health
In La Ronge, adult services offered include individual counselling and sessions are tailored to fit the client’s individual needs. Skilled counsellors work with clients to develop individualized recovery plans based on client needs. Complete addiction screening and counselling is provided, both in a group and individual basis. Prevention Services are offered and staff may provide presentations and workshops to schools, other professionals and agencies. Youth Services also offers youth drop in services regularly throughout the week. There are also two groups, an opioid dependency and alcohol dependency group available twice weekly.
Services offered in Pinehouse and Sandy Bay include individual counselling and sessions that are tailored to fit the client’s individual needs. Skilled counselors work with clients to develop individualized recovery plans based on client needs. Groups offered will vary between communities. Prevention Services are offered and staff may provide presentations and workshops to schools, other professionals and agencies.
Addiction Services in Creighton are provided by Creighton Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council. There are two addictions counsellors available. Services include individual counselling, group work, community education presentations, as well as referrals to Treatment Centres.
The Social Detox Unit is located in the La Ronge Health Centre. We provided a safe place for clients to withdraw from alcohol and/or other drugs in a closely monitored environment. Services are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Admission times are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, unless otherwise arranged. This is a resource available for clients over the age of 18 who wish to work toward recovery from alcohol or drug addiction. Staff provided a structured daily routine. Information dealing with the disease of addictions and the recovery process, with a focus on healthy lifestyle choices is provided. Staff also provided emotional support necessary to the recovery process. Clients are also introduced to the 12 step program of recovery, including traditional healing (as available). The length of stay during detoxification varies dependent upon the client’s personal needs.
Mental Health Counselling
The Mental Health Program provides education, support and/or counselling to individuals, families, and groups, as well as advocacy and crisis intervention services for those experiencing issues with mental well being. These services are provided by staff in Creighton, La Ronge, Pinehouse and Sandy Bay.
Youth services (formerly known as Project Hope) are provided out of the Kikinahk Friendship Centre in La Ronge. These services include one-to-one counselling, an addictions education program and an outpatient day program.
